The location of the trees must be harmonious in relationship to the rock.

All movement of the Juniper is clearly visible from this angle and the tree dangels nicely over the edge of the rock.

Preparing the position of the main tree.

DSCF3020.jpg

To create a right balance between rock and vegetation different accent plants are chosen, such as Enkianthus, Azalea saotome, Cotoneaster, Phlox.

Raimond covers the clod of the main tree with a lot of keto-mixture.

Ample growing medium is being provided.

Bericht

In juli, augustus en september zijn er maar enkele workshops per maand omdat dit de groeimaanden zijn na een goede eerste onderhoud. Vanaf midden september beginnen dan weer de workshops data met een gemiddelde van 2 à 3 per week.

Message

During the months of July, August and September there will only be organized a few workshops because these are the growing months following a first good maintenance trim. Starting middle of September there will be plenty of workshops again with an average of two to three a week.

Avis

Mixing of keto and akadama starting with a half-half ratio.

DSCF2979.jpg

Then adding keto and water until the right proportion is achieved.

DSCF2980.jpg

Too much water and the mixture disolves. Not enough water and everything crumbles apart.

DSCF2981.jpg

The correct proportion is attained when we have a sticky volume that doesn’t fall apart.

DSCF2984.jpg

The fixing wires for the trees are being attached to the stones with epoxy (2-compound glue).

DSCF2996.jpg

Unraveling of the Juniper which already had a thoroughly prepared repotting earlier.

DSCF2999.jpg

A compact clod is needed for a successful transfer of the tree.

DSCF2997.jpg

First of all, a thick layer of mixture is applied to the locations where the trees are being planted.

Will be continued tomorrow.

DSCF2968.jpg

Two students requested to create a rock-planting. Here one can see the stone (rock) picked by Raimond.

DSCF2969.jpg

Rock sceneries demand a special soil mix; the correct mixture of Keto and Akadama plus water.

DSCF2970.jpg

These are three out of four Black pines from our nursery that will be used. The material is adapted to the size of the stone and already trimmed and wired.

DSCF2971.jpg

The buds are almost fully developed, they will not be shortened in order to prevent a halt of growth while replanting.

DSCF2972.jpg

The trees are being thoroughly unraveled.

DSCF2973.jpg

This is Micky’s grey volcanic rock.

This Juniper, see post of 30/01/2013 “Last weekend’s workshop_1” was styled earlier with the purpose of creating the rock formation today.

 Will be continued tomorrow.
